Me and the other volunteers always love going to Bailesti. Yes, it's partially because to get there we have to ride through the countryside, which is amazing, but also because our presence is really apreciated there and the kids are always happy to have the "foreigners" visit them and do some activity with them.
Paul, the teacher of the class that we work with told us that he usually does very intense classes with the kids, so when we come and do a fun activity with them, it's like a time out from boring school classes and gives them the oportunity to practice some art and handcrafts. They always love it.
Last week, we did origami tullips. It was pretty hard for them to make out the squares, but then again, it's a pretty difficult thing to do in general, but then, once they got through that step, it was easier for them to follow, and they were really into the work, when Paul asked them if they want a break, they refused, I would have never refused a break in class, but now I saw how nice it is to break the monotony from time to time.
In the end, the tullips were completed and the kids decided that they would like to take them home for their mothers, a very good decision in my opinion. I was very glad to see them enjoying the work. After they completed the flowers, we played some games with them, Elvira had them do an activity which required teamwork and leadership skills, by making the students silent and holding their eyes shut, while one student cooridnates the others in order to form a square. And then I did a game where the children were standing in four lines, and the ones in the back were given a simple drawing which they had to relay one by one to the first one in the line by finger drawing on eachothers backs, the results were very funny.
So, there you have it, another amazing day in Bailesti.
Que experiência fantástica. Adorei perceber o trabalho que estás a desenvolver com essas crianças e o entusiasmo de quem ensina e de quem aprende.
